Which SModcast is the best kind of SModcast? Does @ThatKevinSmith agree?

In the world of SModcasts there are 3 major categories:

  • SModhome
  • SModlive
  • SModcastle

Note that for the sake of this discussion I have discluded anomalies such as “on the road but not live”, crossovers (a la TESD), Q&As, etc.

Kevin Smith’s “Red State” Poster is very Non-Kevin Smith … in a good way (Updated)

I have not been this excited for a Kevin Smith movie since Chasing Amy.  I think it is great that Kevin Smith is stretching out into new genres.  As much as I’m a big fan, the dick-and-fart jokes has been played out.  I know it is very much a part of Kevin’s soul, but it does not need to be played out endlessly on the screen.  Especially now that the SModcast network exists as a much better outlet for that type of expression.

Kevin Smith surprises me by having something more to say

Kevin Smith, writer and director of such movies as Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl and Mallrats (still my favourite) has always had a lot to say, which is reflected by the amount of dialogue that can be found in his movies.  Over the years Kevin has found other outlets for his voice, allowing him to say more and more (or in some cases say the same thing more often).

Podcasting History / Best Of

As I kid I remember being flabbergasted at the fact that my father would almost exclusively listen to talk shows when in the car, as opposed to music.  I just couldn’t see the appeal of listening to a bunch of boring people talk about boring things.  I still don’t see the appeal (who would) and I haven’t found anything on the radio that doesn’t adhere to this description..  My car radio has not been on anything except my FM transmitter station since I bought it.  The second car I owned didn’t have a working radio in it for over 3 years.  So lets just say I’m picky about what I listen to.

Now it turns out that there are a lot of entertaining “talkies” out there but as with the music I like it is not to be found within the constraints of mainstream media / radio.  Oh podcasting, what would I do without you?  Here is my Brief History of Podcasting and Nothing Else:
