Second Red State Poster Revealed Through Charity Auction

Continuing his trend of combining creative viral marketing and charity fundraising with the release of details for his upcoming movie Red State, Kevin Smith revealed the second movie poster yesterday (December 7, 2010). This time Kevin put out the word via Twitter that he was holding an auction for the right to host the debut of the next Red State poster.

The auction was pretty entertaining to read, so I recommend viewing Kevin Smith’s Twitter profile for the full history.  The winner of the auction was Giant Firebreathing Robot, who donated $2000.   Click on the poster to see it full size along with the details of the win at Giant Firebreathing Robot’s site.

It is very interesting seeing Kevin’s approach to marketing on this movie, especially given his hands on approach.  How many other Hollywood types to you see doing foot soldier service on their movies?  Given how much Kevin likes to connect with his fans, you know he is not just doing it for the sake of the movie and potential paycheck, but also because he enjoys it.
